The People's Republic of China Prohibits Entry and Exit of Certain Items
Items prohibited from entering the country:
1. All types of weapons, simulated weapons, ammunition, and explosives;
2. Counterfeit currency and counterfeit securities;
3. Printed materials, films, photographs, records, movies, audio tapes, video tapes, laser video discs, computer storage media, and other items that are detrimental to China’s politics, economy, culture, or morality;
4. Various potent poisons;
5. Narcotic drugs such as opium, morphine, heroin, cannabis, and other psychotropic substances that can cause addiction;
6. Animals, plants, and their products containing dangerous bacteria, pests, or other harmful organisms;
7. Food, medicines, or other items from infected areas that can transmit diseases and are harmful to human and animal health.
Items prohibited from leaving the country:
1. All items included in the scope of prohibited entry;
2. Manuscripts, prints, films, photographs, records, movies, audio tapes, video tapes, laser video discs, computer storage media, and other items involving state secrets;
3. Precious cultural relics and other forms of writing prohibited from leaving the country;
4. Endangered and precious animals and plants (including specimens) and their seeds and breeding materials.
People's Republic of China Restricted Entry and Exit List
Restricted entry items:
1. Radio transceivers and communication security devices;
2. Tobacco and alcohol;
3. Endangered and precious animals and plants (including specimens) and their seeds and breeding materials;
4. National currency;
5. Other items restricted by customs for entry.
Restricted exit items:
1. Gold, silver, and other precious metals and their products;
2. National currency;
3. Foreign currencies and their marketable securities;
4. Radio transceivers and communication security devices;
5. Valuable Chinese medicinal materials;
6. General cultural relics;
7. Other items restricted by customs for exit.
